Councils who choose to participate in the 5050Vision awards were recognised for their contribution to gender equity and were seen as ‘Gender Equity Employer of Choice'.  These awards recognised the efforts of Councils to ensure gender equity within their workplace.

What is gender equity?

 

Gender equity is ensuring that all staff regardless of their gender are treated equally and special consideration is not given to a worker simply because of their gender.  This relates to all areas of the workplace including (but not inclusive of) its conditions, recruitment, training, promotion and pay rates.
